Well, here we are. The Calgary Flames’ glorious season comes down to a single game tonight. The Dallas Stars have been nowhere near the easy out the team that everyone thought they would be.
It’s as simple as it can be tonight, win and move on to play in the Battle of Alberta. Lose and go home.
Time to show up.
Round 1, Game 7
Dallas Stars @ Calgary Flames
Scotiabank Saddledome
7:30PM MDT
Lineups
Calgary Flames
Lines will be updated after morning skate. The Flames lineup is a bit of a question mark with Chris Tanev’s status undetermined.
Dallas Stars

Series so far
Team | CF% | xGF% | SCF% | HDCF% | SV% |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Calgary Flames | 58.8% | 57.4% | 54.9% | 57.0% | 92.8% |
Dallas Stars | 41.2% | 42.6% | 45.2% | 43.9% | 94.6% |
The Stars had their best performance to date in Game 6 on Friday night. They led the statistical battle in all categories for the first time this postseason. They outshot, and out-chanced, the Flames who were still decent statistically in the first and last periods.
It will be a bloodbath tonight to see who decides to show up.
Players to watch
Dallas: Jake Oettinger
Does the young goaltender have another ridiculous game under his belt? The stats say he does and if he can put up a similar performance it is going to be hard for the Flames to score enough. Oettinger should win the Conn Smythe based solely on this series.
Calgary: Literally anyone
This team was applauded for it’s depth, but somehow cannot score. Most of that can be attributed to Oettinger, but enough is enough. Someone has to step up.
