NHL Fantasy: Players worth adding for playoffs

Depending on your fantasy hockey league’s schedule, you are either in the middle of the playoffs, or you are just about to enter them. Either way, it is important that your roster is as strong as it can be during this time. Every win counts, and they have never been as vital as they are now.

With the fantasy playoffs being the focus, let’s take a look at a couple of players who might be worth placing on your roster.

Barret Hayton – C – ARI – 24% Rostered

Arizona has been playing some excellent hockey recently, going 6–2–2 in their last 10 games. Part of that is thanks to Barret Hayton putting up 13 points in his last 10 games, including one night against the Minnesota Wild where he put up a monstrous four-point game. With Hayton centring the star winger Clayton Keller, Hayton is practically a must-add right now, especially with Arizona playing four games next week.

Juuso Valimaki – D – ARI – 13% Rostered

We are sticking with Arizona for our next pick. The defenceman who was once on waivers is now establishing himself as a solid top-four defenceman. How does that saying go? What’s one team’s trash is another team’s treasure? Anyways, Juuso Valimaki is Arizona’s most valuable defenceman, constantly on the ice for 20+ minutes a night, and is quarterbacking their top power play unit. Valimaki has 10 points in his last 15 games and has been an excellent producer for the Coyotes.

Sammy Blais – LW/RW – STL – 9% Rostered

If you’re not struggling on the points front, some auxiliary categories like hits can go a long way. Sammy Blais might be the sole reason why you win next week’s hits stat category. Blais has accumulated a monster 61 hits in his last 14 games, putting him on an average of four hits a game. With the Blues having four games next week, he is bound to contribute very nicely to your team.

Jakub Vrana – LW – STL – 26% Rostered

Is Vrana back to his goal-scoring ways? Sure seems like it based on his last four games. Jakub Vrana just recently put up 2 goals against the Wild, and has four goals in his last four games. It might be a little early to pick him up, but with his goal-scoring ability, it might be the smart move to acquire him quickly before more fantasy hockey managers take notice of his play. He is currently on a line with Pavel Buchnevich and Kasperi Kapanen, and is also on the top power play unit. So if one thing is certain, it’s that he will absolutely get his chances to score.

Load up for the championship

Every week counts starting now, and some stat categories may have to be favored more over others. It’s essential that the players that are added to your team provide the necessary boost to put you over the top of your opponent, and with the four players above playing how they are right now, they just might be the reason you win the championship. It’s playoff time, are you ready for it?
