The Calgary Flames faced a dire situation of being tasked to face the Boston Bruins in hopes of not losing seven straight. A good start to the game was neutralised. Throughout the game, both teams had many chances to score on the power play, but the Flames were zero-for-six, the Bruins zero-for-five.
Calgary even had some pretty good chances to go ahead, but a complete team-wide allergy of actually getting the puck inside the net ended up being their downfall as wide open chances were not converted, whereas the Bruins were opportunistic in their play. The Flames were probably the better team—they have been the better team in several games of this losing streak—but the final score is what matters and a 3–1 scoreboard extended their losing streak to seven games.
