Flames Game Recaps

Flames Visual Recap 4: Flames handed their first regulation loss thanks to unlucky bounces

The Calgary Flames returned to action against the Toronto Maple Leafs after nearly a week off from game play. Things started on the wrong foot as they trailed early in the first after a Leafs goal from Jake Muzzin.

In the second, Calgary tied it up with a goal from Sean Monahan. However, nearing the end of the period, the Leafs got ahead again with an odd pinball power play goal from Wayne Simmonds.

Heading into the third, a Leafs shot attempt tipped off of Auston Matthews and bounced off Rasmus Andersson into the Flames net, giving Matthews his first career goal against Calgary. The Flames pushed back with a power play goal from Elias Lindholm to put them within one, but that would be as close as they got. Final score: 3 – 2, Toronto.
